SAWMILL INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL

Sawmill fourth graders are visiting the Smithtown Historical Society on Wednesday to reinforce classroom social studies lessons about the Revolutionary period.

The students heard from historical society staff dressed in period attire about living on Long Island during the late 1700s.

The students then had the opportunity to make candles by dipping wicks in hot wax, write with a quill and play with a Jacob's ladder.
