Stefanie Liptzin Appointed New Sawmill Assistant Principal

The Board of Education approved a new member of the Sawmill leadership team on Thursday night.
Stefanie Liptzin has been appointed the intermediate school’s new assistant principal.
She succeeds Evelyn Cárdenas, who is retiring at the conclusion of the school year.
Liptzin has more than 15 years of classroom experience in the Glen Cove City School District.
She has taught fifth grade at Landing Elementary School in Glen Cove since 2012, after previously teaching fourth grade at Connolly Elementary School in the same district from 2009 through 2011.
She recently served as Glen Cove’s K-5 summer academic program supervisor and K-8 extended school year program supervisor.
Liptzin earned a bachelor of science in human development and education from Binghamton University as well as a master of arts in education from Queens College. She holds advanced certificates in school district leadership and school building leadership from Stony Brook University.
“We’re so excited that Stefanie is joining the Sawmill family,” principal Michelle Tancredi-Zott said. “Her enthusiasm and experience are going to fit right in with our culture. We can’t wait to start working with her.”
Said Liptzin: “I’m very excited to start the next step of my career here in Commack. It’s a great community where everybody seems to be really involved. I’m very excited to work with Michelle and all of the students.”
